Growing in Unity Blog Hop 1/24/16

Welcome back to my blog!!  I will be showcasing some of my favorite cards that I have made with my Unity stamps.

This was one of my first cards using Tim Holtz distress inks to make a background.  Using inks and gelatos to make backgrounds is my current obsession!  This card also serves to remind me to celebrate everything, even the small things (like a sunset/sunrise).

This fashionista was made using gold embossing powder.  I love the simplistic and classic look of this card.  Age and glassed of wine should never be counted.  This was the perfect birthday card to send to one of my wine loving friends!

I saw the background paper at Joann Fabrics one day and it instantly reminded me of the Big Bang Theory.  I just had to buy it!  Then, once I saw these stamps, I knew that I had to combine the two!  A sweet valentine for a nerdy friend!

Thanks for hopping with me!  Don't forget to leave a comment for a chance to win!

Growing in Unity Day 5

Thanks for joining me on my last day as the GIU girl!  It's so nice to have you return.  This week really motivated me to make some cards.  Working full time and having a 1 year old doesn't give me a lot of time for creativity, so I was grateful to have to carve out this time for myself!  This year I definitely had to "embrace new beginnings".  There were so many firsts this year.  First words, first tooth, first steps!  New beginnings were everywhere!

The stamps came from the January 2014 KOM.  The inks are Tim Holtz distress inks (love love love TH inks!).

Hope you had fun this week with me!  Don't forget that 2 lucky winners will be chosen to get 25 stamps!

Growing in Unity Day 4

Welcome back!  I'm really glad you decided to continue on with my GIU week!  My two creations for today are similar in style.  I saw a card use similar colors last year and I just had to see if I liked them as much when I tried to use them.  The cards I initially saw were much prettier but these weren't too bad (I can't remember who was the original card maker who used these colors together)!  Both cards use Wish with Your Heart.

The bottom card was stamped on plain white card stock, which doesn't lend itself well to using distress inks on.  I'm having an issue with the glue not keeping the card stock laying flat on the card.  Leave a comment with any suggestions (other than completing starting over and using the right type of paper).

Thanks for the comments!

Growing in Unity Day 3

Good morning!  Thanks for coming back to check out day 3 of my blog!

This card was made with stamps from the June 2014 and August 2014 KOM.  The image was stamped onto watercolor paper using Versamark.  Clear embossing powder was added.  Once it was heat set, I used Faber Castell gelatos to make the background.  Using a baby wipe, I removed some of the color and blended the colors together.  Once it had dried completely, I stamped the sentiment in black.

life fails to be perfect but never fails to be beautiful

Thanks for stopping by!

Growing in Unity Day 2

Glad to see that you've returned! Today I will showcase a card that I gave to a special person in my life for their birthday.  The card really speaks for itself.

Luckily the cancer was caught in the very early stages.  Things are looking good.

Thanks for stopping by today!  See you all tomorrow!

Growing in Unity Day 1

Thanks for coming to visit! I'm glad to "see" you. This year has brought a lot for my family. The biggest is my daughter who was born at the end of last year. Watching her grow up has been amazing!  She just turned on this past Friday!

She has definitely brought so much joy to our lives!

Onto my first project!

This card was made with a sentiment from December 2013 KOM.  The background is made from an embossing folder and Faber Castell gelatos (one of my new favorite supplies).  The gelatos have a little bit of shimmer to them but it doesn't photograph well.

Thanks for stopping in!  Hope to see you back tomorrow!
